consultative committee of urban development meets draft master plan of delhi 2021 likely to be ready next month - azad

The Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry of Urban Development met here today under the Chairmanship of the Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad. In his opening remarks, Shri Azad informed the members about various developmental and housing activities undertaken by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and said that the Master Plan of Delhi 2021 is in the process of finalisation and the draft Master Plan will be ready in a month’s time. "The new plan is expected to focus on the policy alternatives for redevelopment of large degraded areas of Delhi and also would indicate possible solutions for better utilisation of land, development of new settlements and green areas in Delhi", he added. Shri Azad underlined the need to have infrastructure plans prepared along with the Master Plan so that development activities are supported by adequate infrastructure and services. Shri Azad also informed the members that along with the development of Capital City of Delhi, government is also giving emphasis and development of National Capital Territory Region so that the economic activities are dispersed and a balanced development of the entire region takes place which inturn would help in checking large scale migration of people to the capital city.
