The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for repealing the Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929 and in place a new Bill will be introduced in Parliament, namely, "Prevention of Child Marriage Bill, 2004".
The enactment of the proposed legislation will implement the recommendations of the National Human Rights Commission and National Commission for Women substantially and would help in bringing the social change in the society.
