bsnl pays rs. 481.25 crore dividend

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has paid Rs. 481.25 crore as dividend to the Government. The Dividend Cheque was presented to Shri Dayanidhi Maran, Minister of Communications & Information Technology, by Shri A.K. Sinha, CMD, BSNL in the presence of Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad and Secretary, Department of Telecommunications Shri Nripendra Misra. The dividend cheque presented here today includes two components of Rs. 281.25 crore towards dividend payment for the year 2003-04 and another Rs. 200 crore towards advance dividend payment for the year 2004-05. The CMD, BSNL stated that the Corporation has earned a profit of Rs. 5967 crore during the year 2003-04 which is four times high as compared to the previous year and the company is targeting a profit of Rs. 6000 crore for the year 2004-05.
