Union Cabinet today gave its approval for introduction of a Bill in Parliament to amend the Railways Act, 1989 to include commercial utilization of the railway land/air-space as a part of work of the Railways.
The Cabinet also gave approval to incorporate provisions in the Act for setting up “Rail Land Development Authority” (RLDA) to take up commercial development of Railway land, air-space & property wherever feasible.
