Bhubaneshwar in the Eastern Region has been identified for setting up a new Regional office of CBSE. However, no place have been identified for opening of regional office in Southern States in addition to the existing regional office at Chennai.
The basic criteria for setting up new Regional Offices is the number of schools affiliated with the Board in the region concerned, and the number of candidates appearing for secondary and senior secondary examinations conducted by the Board.
There are six regional offices functioning in the country.
This information was given by the Human Resource Development Minister, Shri Arjun Singh in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
