368 sportspersons have been sent for training abroad in the last three years. The Government provides various schemes to the teams and sports persons for training and participation abroad for improving their level of performance. 290 sportspersons underwent training abroad through assistance to National Sports Federations. Under the scheme relating to Talent Search & Training, financial assistance upto Rs. 5.00 lakh is provided for training and participation of national champions as well as elite players in international events. 68 sportspersons took advantage of the scheme during the last three years. The National Sports Development Fund provides financial assistance to the medal hopes in major international events for training and participation abroad. 10 sportspersons including Lt. Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, the Silver Medallist of Athens Olympic 2004 have been assisted through this scheme.
