Monday, August 29, 2005

The public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), an integrated multi-locational aluminium complex in Orissa, has started a special grade aluminium project. The project envisages production of 26,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of special hydrate / alumina at an estimated cost of Rs.56.78 crore. The special hydrate portion of the project has been commissioned in March 2004. The production of special hydrate was estimated at 7,000 tonnes for 2004-05 and 2005-06. The balance portion of the project has been delayed as a company of West Germany failed to supply a major equipment on time and the order was again placed with a company of Switzerland. The balance portion is expected to be commissioned this year.
