The Committee on National Defence University recommended the establishment of an Indian National Defence University (INDU) as a fully autonomous institution awarding educational Degrees, Diplomas and Credits. The existing institutions namely National Defence College (New Delhi), Institute of Defence Management (Secunderaba! d), Defence Services Staff College (Wellington) and National Defence Academy (Khadakvasala) and new institutions namely College of National Security Policy, National Institute of Security Studies and Institute for Advanced Technology Studies will be under the ambit of the INDU.
The Government has not signed any Memorandum of Understanding with any University in this regard.
This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in a written reply to Shri Prabodh Panda in Lok Sabha today.
