A delegation of eight MPs from Andhra Pradesh called on Shri.Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister for Chemical & Fertilizers and urged him for setting up of a Mega Chemical Industrial Estate(MCIE) in Andhra Pradesh. The Minister informed that action has been initiated for preparing a feasibility report on setting up of such a mega chemical industrial estates. This task has been entrusted to M/s Dalal Mott MacDonald, renowned international consultants.
The study which has already commenced is expected to be over by the end of this year. It is envisaged that the MCIE will be developed in the public private partnership mode with private investment which could be both domestic and foreign as part of the study. The Market study which is the part of feasibility study has indicated that the MCIE needs to come up with a large petrochemical complex as the anchor. Based on various parameters which included the availability of land, good port, anchor investor, availability of feed stock etc., locations in Gujarat, West Bengal, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are being considered by the consultants as possible locations for MCIE. Final feasibility report is expected to become available by end of 2005. The findings of study will be brought to the notice of Industry and the State Governments for follow up action.
