An interactive seminar on Human Resource In Armed Forces was organized by the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Deptt. Of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence here today. HR Managers from leading companies like Rites Ltd., Leading Edge Communication (P) Ltd., Pawan Hans Helicopter Ltd., BHEL, MAX New York Life Insurance Co. Ltd., Parsvnath Developers Ltd. and Sailor Today attended the seminar.
In the opening address Cmde SN Nair, Principal Director, DGR highlighted the diverse trained human resource available in the form of ex-servicemen and went on to break the myth that they were suitable for security related jobs only. The latest induction of Ex-servicemen in corporate world would bring the high value system imbibed by a serviceman in their organisation. The Director (Training) of DGR brought out the transitional training provided by the DGR to retiring and retired personnel whose age profile stretches from 27 years to 55 years, for smooth transition to civil corporate sector.! He highlighted new initiatives taken by the DGR in this direction. Introduction of Six months Diploma courses in Management at IIM, Lucknow, MDI, Gurgaon, Narsee Manjee Institute of Management at Mumbai, second career transition courses for senior officers and management capsules for senior officers at top management institutes in the country have been well received by the industry, he added.
The Seminar provided a good forum to remove some of the apprehensions/myth in the minds of corporates about the suitability of ex-service personnel for jobs in the corporate sector.
The DGR plans to hold similar seminars in other metros and industrial township in near future.
