The Union Cabinet today approved the Punjab General Sales Tax (as in force in Chandigarh) Repeal Bill, 2005 to be introduced in the current session of Parliament to repeal the earlier Act viz. Punjab General Sales Tax Act, 1948.
The new Bill will facilitate the extension of the Punjab Value Added Tax Act, 2005 to the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The Punjab Value Added Tax Act, 2005 came into force in the State of Punjab on 1st April, 2005.
