Keeping in view the requirement, 2778 coaches have been planned for production in 2005-06. Coaches are procured keeping in view the demand as well as availability of funds.
Augmentation of production capacity of both the Production Units of Indian Railways (Integrated Coach Factory and Rail Coach Factory) from 1000 each to 1250 and 1400 respectively have been sanctioned in 2005-06.
