There is no proposal for setting up of any new major Port under consideration with the Government of India. State Governments have overall jurisdiction over Ports other than major Ports and are also responsible for their construction.
This information was given in the Lok Sabha today in a written reply by the Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Shri T.R. Baalu.
