Naturopathy has been recognized by the Government of India as one of the six Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy. There is already a separate ‘Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH)’ for the promotion, propagation and development of these Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy including Naturopathy.
In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Panabaka Lakshmi informed the Members that the registration of Naturopathy and Yoga practioners is being done in States like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu by their State Boards of Indian Medicine. Instructions have been issued to all the States to evolve a regulatory mechanism for regulating the practice of Yoga and Naturopathy. No reorganization of Naturopathy has been done, the Minister added to inform the Members.
