The Minister of State in the Ministry of Planning, Shri M.V. Rajasekharan said today in a written reply in Rajya Sabha that the government of Maharashtra has submitted a Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (MUIP) for up-gradation of roads, construction of flyovers and traffic network in Mumbai at an estimated cost of Rs.2648 crores, excluding land acquisition cost.
He further informed that the Planning Commission has made a tentative allocation of Rs.1000 crores in the Annual Plan 2005-06 of Maharashtra under the proposed National Urban Renewal Mission (NURM). The MUIP could also be considered for additional assistance, provided the State Government fulfills the proposed Mission guidelines.
