The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been monitoring the effective and proper utilization of grants released to organizations under various schemes through the following mechanisms:
1.
Submission of Utilization Certificates before release of the next instalment.
2.
Verification reports from the field agencies of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and National Service Scheme, and from State Governments.
3.
Ministry also takes note of inputs from the reports received from Information Development and Resource Agency (IDARA) from time to time in monitoring the progress of implementation of youth development programmes undertaken by various agencies.
There is, however, no specific Authority set up in the Ministry to monitor utilization of funds allocated for projects as it implements various youth welfare and sports promotion schemes and not projects as such.
This information was given in a written reply by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Shri Prithviraj Chavan in the Lok Sabha today.
