The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy is awarded annually to the University that has given the best and all round performance in sports activities during the year of the award. The winner receives a replica of the Trophy and cash award of Rs.2 lakhs, which is to be utilized for acquiring sports equipments.
For the year 2003-2004 this Trophy has been won by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Second and Third positions have gone to Punjab University, Chandigarh and Delhi University respectively.
