The National Food for Work Programme (NFFWP) is an allocation based programme and a provision of Rs. 4500 crore under cash component and 50 lakh MTs of foodgrains have been made during 2005-06. The programme will soon be subsumed with National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) once the NREG Bill is passed by the Parliament and thereafter will become demand driven from supply driven at present.
This information was given by Minister of State for Rural Development Smt. Suryakanta Patil in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
