income eligibility ceiling raised for assistance to disabled

The Government has increased the income eligibility ceiling for assistance to displaced person. A person with disability having a monthly income of upto Rs. 6,5000/- vis-à-vis earlier Rs. 5,000/- can now get assistive device under the scheme of assistance to disabled persons for purchase/fitting of aids/ appliances (ADIP Scheme) totally free. Similarly a person with disability having monthly income upto Rs. 10,000/- vis-à-vis Rs. 8,000/- earlier, will get 50 per cent concession for aids and appliances under scheme.

The Scheme of Assistance to disabled persons for purchase/fitting of aids/appliances (ADIP Scheme) has been given wide publicity through print media and the revised scheme is available on website of the Ministry i.e. www.socialjustice.nic.in.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Smt. Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
