Lok Sabha
Rs. 12871 lakhs has been allocated for conservation and maintenance of centrally protected monuments/sites during the year 2005-2006. Out of this the expenditure till June 2005 is Rs. 1198.61 lakhs. The expenditure incurred during the last three years is, 2004-05 - Rs. 11595.48 lakhs; 2003-04 - Rs. 10706.03 lakhs and 2002-03 – Rs. 8034.59 lakhs.
There are 3660 centrally protected monuments/sites, of which 955 are places of religious worship.
