The Ministry of Tourism has been assisting State Governments to improve the tourist infrastructure in the country under its scheme of ‘Product/Infrastructure Development of Tourist Circuits and Destinations’ under which there are guidelines issued to the State Governments to improve tourist facilities like landscaping, development of parks, illumination, improvement in solid waste management and sewerage management, construction of budget accommodation, wayside amenities, tourist arrival reception, interpretation centers etc. the response of State Governments in the form of Detailed Project Reports, land availability etc. This was stated by the Minister of State for Tourism, Smt. Renuka Chowdhury in a reply to a question by Shri G. Karunakara Reddy in Lok Sabha here today.
