Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCEA) today approved the setting up of Uri Hydroelectric Project Stage-II (4 X 60 MW) in the State of Jammu & Kashmir by NHPC at an estimated cost of Rs.1724.79 crores. The cost includes interest during construction & financing charge of Rs.66.61 crores at Feb.’05 price level with a debt (including interest free subordinate debt) equity ratio of 70:30.

The cost is inclusive of Rs.38.25 crores already approved for development of Stage-II activities of the project.

The Uri Hydroelectric Project Stage-II, is a run-of-the-river scheme without any pondage on Jhelum River in Baramullah district of Jammu & Kashmir. The Project involves construction of a 52 meter high concrete gravity dam near Salambad village and an underground powerhouse on left bank of the river near Sadwania village.
