The Government has earmarked out of the Central Pool of allocation of medical seats up to four seats in Government medical colleges for children of tsunami affected people. The step has been taken at the initiative of the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss.
The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has written to the State Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamilnadu and the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar and Pondicherry to forward to the Ministry the names of such children along with their mark sheets to facilitate their selection.
