The Government has approved the Gevra opencast expansion project of the South Eastern Coalfields Limited, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Its completion cost would be Rs.1,897.80 crore. The total production of coal from the project will be 25 million tonnes per annum. After completion, coal from the mines will be supplied to the States of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Coal, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
