Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports today distributed flags to mark the National Sports Day beginning with the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Shri Prithviraj Chavan at his chamber in Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi, this morning. The flags were distributed by the members of various wings of the Ministry such as Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, National Service Scheme and Sports Authority of India both at the national as well as regional levels. The money collected will be deposited in the National Sports Development Fund. Smt. Meenaxi Anand Chaudhary, Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry, and several other senior officials also contributed to the fund.
The day coincides with the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand.
