Thursday, August 04, 2005

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has advised the general public to bring to the notice of the committees set up under High Court Judges any instances of educational institutions imparting medical/dental and other professional medical education charging fees for a period beyond one semester/year in advance.

The Ministry has pointed out that any educational institutions charging prescribed fees for beyond one semester/year is committing serious violation of the orders of the Supreme Court passed on 14/8/2003 in the Islamic Academy of Education Versus Union of India case.

The Ministry has issued the warning in view of the fact that some instances have been brought to its notice that institutions while admitting students for professional courses are collecting fees for the entire duration of the course, in other words, for all the years in advance.
