Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCEA) today gave its approval for establishment of transmission system associated with Koldam Hydroelectric Project (4 X 200 MW) in Distt. Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh at a total estimated cost of Rs.464.91 crore including Interest During Construction (IDC) of Rs.31.02 crore (at 2nd quarter, 2005 price level) consisting of (i) POWERGRID portion of works at a cost of Rs.162.96 crore including IDC of Rs.10.54 crores and (ii) Joint Venture portion of works at a cost of Rs.301.95 crore including IDC of Rs.20.48 crore. The project shall be completed in 36 months to match the commissioning schedule of Koldam generation project.

CCEA also gave its approval for authorizing the M/s. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. to execute the portion identified under the Joint Venture scope of work, in the eventuality of Joint Venture route not materializing.

The transmission project would facilitate evacuation of power from Koldam Hydro Electric project and further dispersal to various beneficiaries of Northern Region.
