The Minister of State (Independent charge) for Overseas Indian Affairs, Shri Jagdish Tytler told the Lok Sabha that the Government is in the process of finalising the site for the Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra (PBK) in New Delhi. Once the land is acquired, steps regarding the design and construction of the Kendra will commence. The Kendra is likely to be operational in about 3 years time.
To a query whether the Government proposes to set up full-fledged universities for the NRIs/PIOs the Minister said that there was no such proposal but added that such universities may be set up by the private sector with the approval of the regulatory agencies concerned.
