As per the Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) sanctioned rehabilitation scheme, Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) in Burdwan district of West Bengal, has proposed to invest an amount of Rs.2,956.83 crore from 2003-2004 to 2012-1203. During the year 2004-05, ECL produced 27.25 million tonnes (MT) of coal. According to the scheme, the production target for ECL for the year 2005-06 is 33.46 MT and 2012-13 is 41.70 MT.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Coal, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
