News reports and market sources indicate that over four million receiver systems have been sold in different parts of the country since the launch of the DD Direct Plus (Direct to Home) service on 16th December, 2004. It is likely to increase further during the year. No carriage fee is being charged from the private channels included in the said service at present.
This Information was given by Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Culture, Shri S. Jaipal Reddy in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
