dma welcomes amendments to mci act

A delegation of the Delhi Medical Association today welcomed the proposed amendments to the Medical Council of India Act. In a meeting with the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss here they congratulated him on his bold step which had been taken to meet the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

During the meeting, the Minister explained the reasons for the amendments which had been necessitated by the concerns expressed in several fora including Parliament on the functioning of MCI. He said the amendments will streamline the functioning of MCI and make it more transparent and accountable. He allayed the fears of the members of the delegation on any of the provisions being misused and said that necessary safeguards will be introduced to check any misuse.
