Smt. Deepak Sandhu today assumed office as Principal Information Officer. She succeeds Dr. Shakuntala Mahawal, who retired yesterday. A 1971 batch officer of the Indian Information Service, Ms. Sandhu has held various sensitive and key assignments. She was DG (News) for AIR and Doordarshan immediately prior to her new assignment. She has been Director, Directorate of Film Festivals, Registrar of Newspapers in India. She also served in other media units of the I&B Ministry, namely, Directorate Advertising and Visual Publicity and Research Reference and Training Division.
