The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), on one of the media interactions has recently stated that the Indian Army are telling Pakistan Director General Military Operations (DGMO) repeatedly that infiltration is on the increase. However, Pakistan has denied involvement of their troops in abetting infiltration.
Reports indicate that the logistic infrastructure of the terrorist training camps inside Pakistan and in Pakistan occupied Kashmir still remains intact. Further, it was observed that there was a reduction in the number of infiltration attempts from across the border in the initial five months of 2005. However, there has been an increase in cross border infiltration during June and July 2005.
The details of infiltration attempts intercepted by the Army on the Line of Control (LoC) and assessed infiltration in the state of Jammu and Kashmir are as under :-
