The Organising Committee for Commonwealth Games, 2010 (OC) has submitted estimated expenditure of Rs.802.23 crores (excluding upgradation of infrastructure). Government of NCT has submitted an estimate of Rs.1314 crores for upgrading of civic infrastructure in Delhi. The budget requirement of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Sports Authority of India (SAI) would depend on finalisation of disciplines and decision on the options pertaining to Games Village.

At the time of Government approval for Commonwealth Games bid in the year 2003, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had projected an expenditure of Rs.399.05 crore which included Rs.150.00 crores for infrastructure. The cost of construction of Games Village was projected at Rs.186.00 crore and construction of indoor & outdoor stadium in the Yamuna Sports Complex and upgradation of existing infrastructure of the Delhi Development Authority at Rs.32.50 crore.

This information was given in a written reply by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Shri Prithviraj Chavan in the Rajya Sabha today.
