Several measures for development of water resources including major, medium and minor schemes to conserve water have been undertaken by the State Governments. State Governments are also executing various schemes to harvest rain water. The Government of India is implementing a pilot scheme “National Project for Repair, Renovation and Restoration of Water Bodies directly linked to Agriculture” with a total outlay of Rs.30 crore during the remaining period of tenth Five Year Plan.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Water Resources, Shri Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
