coal supply to badarpur power plant

Lok Sabha

Badarpur Thermal Power Plant in Delhi has not taken long term linkage nor has signed Fuel Supply Agreement. However, the plant received 4,004,000 tonnes coal in 2004-05 and 3,674,000 tonnes in 2003-04.

An Inter-ministerial sub-group has been monitoring coal supply to power stations on regular basis. Whenever a power station faces coal stock crisis, the Sub-Group takes decision for contingency movement of coal so that generation is not adversely affected. Since Badarpur TPS has been holding comfortable coal stock for 23 days as against average all India stockholding of 14 days at power station, there is no need of any special effort at present for augmenting coal stock for the plant.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Coal, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
