The Government had earlier decided that only applications received up to June 28, 2004 would be considered for allotment of captive blocks. This has since been reviewed, and the Government has, for the time being, decided to continue allocation of coal / lignite blocks for captive mining under the existing process of allocation through the Screening Committee.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Coal, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
