Trial of AIDS vaccine has been launched on 7th February, 2005 at national AIDS Research institute (NARI), Pune on human volunteers. The Adeno Associated Viral Vaccine (AAV) is a candidate vaccine, which is under going Phase-I trial.
Giving this information in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Panabaka Lakshmi informed the House that the TRC, Chennai has already received clearance for carrying out Phase I clinical trial MVA based HIV vaccine candidate from the Genetic Engineering Approval Committee by the end of June, 2005.
