Attention of Railway Board has been drawn to the reports appearing in a section of the Press that Hon’ble Governor of Bihar, Shri Buta Singh has requested the Minister of Railways Shri Laloo Prasad to help transfer of an Indian Railway Store Service (IRSS) officer to Mumbai as Controller of Stores, Central Railway. The Ministry clarifies that the letter from the Hon’ble Governor has been received. However, Shri V.K.P. Meshram, the concerned IRSS officer, has been posted to South Western Railway in the same capacity in his cadre on 2nd August, 2005. There is no proposal at present to transfer Shri Meshram to Central Railway. All such matters are dealt with on merit as per rules. An appropriate reply to Hon’ble Governor of Bihar, Shri Buta Singh is in the process of being issued.
