By a judgement dated 29th April 2005, the Madras High Court disposed off a batch of cases. The first case of this batch is:
“The Commissioner of Income Tax-vs-M/s Janakiram Mills Ltd.”
It is in the first case that a Special Counsel was engaged. In all other cases the Standing Counsel represented the IT Department. The Judgement also discusses only the first case, because the judgement in the first case will apply to all other cases.
In this batch of cases, 43 Textile Mills were concerned. Among these 43 cases, the name of M/s Karpagambal Mills Ltd., Cholapuram does not figure. The allegation made in this behalf is totally incorrect.
