bilateral investment promotion and protection agreement between india and libya

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the signing of Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPA) between India and Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. This Agreement will help in increasing the investment between India and Libya. Agreement shall be in force for a period of 10 years.

Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (BIPA) have been signed with 57 countries since 1994. Agreements have also been finalized with 7 other countries and negotiations held with another 18 countries. These negotiations have been conducted on the basis of a negotiating text approved by the Steering Committee on Economic Reforms.
