Air Marshal Yeshwant Rao Rane AVSM VM will take over the charge of Air Officer-in-charge Personnel at Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan), New Delhi wef 01 Sep 05. He is coming on promotion posting.

Born on 04 Mar 1948 in Gwalior, Air Mshl Rane was commissioned in the flying branch of IAF as a fighter pilot on 20 December 1969. With a highly professional back ground, he has had a distinguished career profile. He has about 4600 hours of flying to his credit in various aircraft like Mirage-2000, MiG-21, Hunter, Canbera, Gnat, Ajeet Vampire, HPT-32, Kiran, PC-7. He is a graduate of the National Defence College. A qualified instructor with A2 - Highest Instructional Category with over 1500 hours of Instructional Flying on single/twin jets. He has commanded 15 Sqn, 35 Sqn, 40 Wing. He has also served as Principle Director in Operations Branch at Air HQ. Before taking over as the AOP at Air HQ, he was the Commandant of the prestigious Air Force Academy at Hyderabad.

Air Mshl Rane was on deputation to the Iraqi Air Force as a Flying Instructor during 1982-84. He was special delegate for Paris Air Show in Jul 03 and was team leader of the IAF Team for Bilateral IAF-RAF Conference and IAF Training Delegation to Germany in Aug-Sep 04. He has also made interactive visits during NDC delegation to UAE, France, Kenya, Russia, UK, Sri Lanka and Holland.

Air Mshl Rane was awarded Vayu Sena Medal in 1990 and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2002.
