The Centre has approved 50 food parks across the country and they would get financial assistance as per the norms.
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries provides financial assistance for the overall development of the food processing industry and infrastructure development in food parks. The Ministry itself does not set up projects.
Food parks are infrastructure projects with a longer gestation period. They have attained different levels of progress so far. Over 800 units have been allotted plots or are using common infrastructure facilities. The Minister of Food Processing Industries, Shri Subodhkant Sahay gave this information in the Lok Sabha today. In reply to a question he said 13 food parks are now partially functional in the country.
