116 central projects completed during 2004-05

116 Central Infrastructural Projects with final cost of over Rs.42370 crore were completed between May 2004 to April 2005. According to a Report of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the maximum number of projects completed during the period were 31 in the Road Transport and Highways Sector, followed by 27 in the Railways Sector. In the Shipping and Port Sector, the number of projects completed were 13 while in case of Coal 12 and 11 in Power Sector.

The other Sectors have also completed a number of projects but below 10 and these are, 5 in Petroleum, 4 Tele-communication, 3 each in Urban Development and Civil Aviation, 2 each in Mines and Steel and one each in Atomic Energy, Fertilizers and Information and Broadcasting Sectors.

This is almost double the number of projects completed in the 14 sectors, compared with 59 during May 2003 to April 2004, with the final cost being over Rs.13897 crore. No projects were completed in Fertilizers and Atomic Energy sectors during this period and the maximum number of projects completed were 17 in the Road Transport and Highways Sector.

212 projects with latest approved cost of Rs.58761.56 crore were added during May 2004 to April 2005, whereas in the previous period, the number of projects added totalled 118 with latest approved cost being Rs.38551.20 crore.
