There is no training being imparted to trainers on the Intermediate Jet Trainers. However, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has entered into a contract with British Aerospace Systems of United Kingdom (UK), for training of 75 IAF pilots on the Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) aircraft at the Royal Air Force (RAF) Valley, UK.

The training of IAF pilots on the Hawk AJT is progressing as per schedule. The Hawk AJT training includes 12 courses with 6 to 8 IAF trainees in each course. Each training course is of a duration of 45 weeks.

There is no final operational clearance required for the AJT as per the contract signed with M/s British Aerospace Systems.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in a written reply to Shrimati N P Durga in Rajya Sabha today.
