Air India and Indian Airlines have announced a relief amount of Rs 25 lakhs and Rs. 12.5 lakhs respectively for the welfare of their employees in the Air India and Indian Airlines colonies of Mumbai, severely affected by the recent Mumbai floods.

The Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Praful Patel personally visited the affected colonies today and has announced a personal contribution of Rs. 5 lakhs for Air India and Rs. 2.5 lakhs for Indian Airlines towards relief of the affected personnel. He has also announced that an amount of Rs. 30,000 would also be made available as loan to any desiring employee, recoverable after a period of one year in easy installments.

Besides, all medical care, food and drinking water have been made available to the employees and their families residing in these two colonies, since the floods disrupted normal life in Mumbai.

The Minister also reviewed the severely affected Engineering Services of Air India in Mumbai and has announced that till everything was normalized and became functional, all necessary repairs to the aeroplanes of Air India would be carried out outside the country so that the services do not get hampered in anyway and the schedules of Air India are not disturbed.
