Shri Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, Minister for Water Resources received a Cheque of Rs.50 lakhs as 25% Interim Dividend for the year 2004-2005 from Shri D. Datta, Chairman and Managing Director, Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS) here today. Shri J. Hari Narayan, Secretary, Ms. Sushma Singh, Additional Secretary and other senior officers of the Ministry of Water Resources and WAPCOS were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Water Resources Minister stated that WAPCOS is a unique organisation and it must make efforts to secure more International contracts especially in the Middle-East. The CMD, WAPCOS informed that the company is making efforts to tap huge markets for water consultancy in Iraq and trying to tie up with leading organisations.

Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Ltd. (WAPCOS) is a “Mini Ratna” Government of India Undertaking under the aegis of Union Ministry of Water Resources and is now recognised amongst the front ranking International Consultancy Organisations of the World in Water Resources, Power & Infrastructure Development. WAPCOS is also accredited with ISO 9001:2000 certification by AFAQ-EAQA, UK for providing quality services.

WAPCOS has forged ahead by securing new projects in Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cambodia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Swaziland, Uganda and Zimbabwe. WAPCOS has also recently been awarded Silver Trophy for “SCOPE Award for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to the Public Sector Management – Smaller Public Enterprises Category” for the year 2003-2004.
