The Chief of Naval Staff visited USA recently. During his visit, matters relating to enhancement of defence cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of Navy, were discussed.
There has been a steady development of defence relations with the United States. This has taken the form of continuation of high level military visits, training opportunities and exchanges, participation in seminars, cooperation in disaster management and joint exercises. In addition, the United States is now responding positively to opportunities for high technology, defence sales and cooperation.
This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in a written reply to Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh and Shri Vijoy Krishna in Lok Sabha today.
