three works costing rs. 9.40 crore approved for repair of tsunami damaged national highway sections in tamil nadu

The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T. R. Baalu has approved three repair works to be carried out in tsunami- damaged sections of National Highways in Tamil Nadu. The total cost of the three works is Rs. 9.41 crore.

The works are: construction of retaining wall in km 99/200-99/600 and 100/450-101/050 of NH 45A in Villupuram NH Division at a cost of Rs. 132.87 lakhs, restoration of damages in km 137/7-165/4 and km 189/0-191/0 of NH 45A in Thanjavur NH Division at a cost of Rs. 373.86 lakhs, and restoration of damages in km 146/0-164/0 of NH 210 in Ramnad NH Division at a cost of Rs. 434.02 lakhs.

These sections of National Highways in Tamil Nadu had suffered extensive damage during the tsunami disaster in December last year. The above-mentioned works have been approved in continuation of tsunami restoration works worth Rs. 15 crore approved earlier by Thiru Baalu.
