A three-day State mourning will be observed throughout the country from today as a mark of respect to Pope John Paul II who passed away in the early morning hours today. During the period of State mourning, the National Flag will be flown half mast throughout India where it is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment. A Home Ministry Notification has also requested the State Governments and Union Territory Administrations to take action accordingly.
